We are CCI. Together with around 275 col­leagues, we aim to share as many sweet moments as pos­si­ble with our cus­to­mers and con­su­mers. We do so by deve­lo­ping sugar free, low sugar and vegan sweets, in addi­ti­on to our wide ran­ge of more tra­di­tio­nal pro­ducts. We pro­du­ce our sweets in four fac­to­ries in Germany and the Netherlands, for a broad inter­na­tio­nal cus­to­mer base.

Our History


Company founded in Drachten

Continental Candy Industries was foun­ded in Drachten, Holland, in 1985. With the pro­duc­tion of con­fec­tion­e­ry for the food mar­ket in the Benelux coun­tries and Great Britain, a suc­cess­ful com­pa­ny was founded.


Strategic redefinition

After a stra­te­gic rede­fi­ni­ti­on in 2008, whe­re we focu­sed more stron­gly on retail and pri­va­te labels. This resul­ted in a signi­fi­cant growth.


New factory

This growth, resul­ting from a rele­vant port­fo­lio and our new stra­te­gic posi­tio­ning, promp­ted us to move to a new fac­to­ry with a lar­ger capa­ci­ty in 2012. This move hel­ped pave the way for a suc­cess­ful future.


Takeover by TECG

In ear­ly 2013, CCI Drachten was sold to The European Candy Group (TECG), a sub­si­dia­ry of Bencis Capital Partners. TECG’s objec­ti­ve was to estab­lish the lea­ding European tra­de brand con­fec­tion­e­ry pro­du­cer. This was to be achie­ved based on a buy-and-build strategy.


Takeover of Perfetti van Melle Plant

In the fol­lowing years, a seri­es of fur­ther acqui­si­ti­ons was effec­ted. The first of the­se was in September 2013, with the take­over of a for­mer Perfetti van Melle fac­to­ry in Hoorn (NL).


Takeover of Kraepelien & Holm

In February 2014, we took over liquo­ri­ce fac­to­ry Kraepelien & Holm in Oosterwolde (NL). With this take­over, we expan­ded our pro­duct port­fo­lio of fruit gums and jel­lies to inclu­de liquorice.


Acquisition of Mederer Plant and Sulá

In November 2015, we acqui­red a for­mer fac­to­ry of the Mederer Group in Boizenburg on the Elbe river (fruit gums and jel­lies), fol­lo­wed by the acqui­si­ti­on of Sulá GmbH (sugar-free con­fec­tion­e­ry) in December of the same year.


Future-oriented portfolio

Since the acqui­si­ti­on of in total five fac­to­ries and around 550 moti­va­ted and expe­ri­en­ced col­leagues, we have had excel­lent growth results. We look for­ward to a suc­cess­ful future based on our strong posi­ti­on on the European mar­ket, a cus­to­mer base in over 30 coun­tries and backed by a future-pro­of port­fo­lio that meets cus­to­mer and con­su­mer needs.

Based on intel­li­gent mar­ket rese­arch, cus­to­mer- and trend ana­ly­ses, com­bi­ned with our own rese­arch and deve­lo­p­ment, we deve­lop inno­va­ti­ve reci­pes that per­fect­ly match indi­vi­du­al mar­kets, con­su­mer pre­fe­ren­ces and trends.

Food safety

Our four pro­duc­tion sites are cer­ti­fied IFS, BRC, GMP and ISO 50001: 2011. We are regu­lar­ly audi­ted accord­ing to indus­try-spe­ci­fic requi­re­ments such as SMETA.


Part of a strong network

We pro­du­ce our diver­se ran­ge of first-class con­fec­tion­e­ry at three loca­ti­ons in the Netherlands and one in Germany. Thanks to the com­bi­na­ti­on of the­se plants, we have a high per­for­mance net­work of modern pro­duc­tion lines. We spe­cia­li­se in various pro­duct groups and cater to your requirements.


The plant in Drachten is the birth­place of the CCI. It is a fle­xi­ble, all-round fac­to­ry whe­re we can pro­du­ce a wide varie­ty of sweets. We are par­ti­cu­lar­ly proud of our Jelly Bean pro­duc­tion line.

Hoorn is a pioneer in the pro­duc­tion of All Sorts liquo­ri­ce. The heart of the plant is its extru­der line, whe­re our pro­du­ce liquo´rice All Sorts in dif­fe­rent forms and recipes.

Well-known for excel­lent qua­li­ty, this plant spe­cia­li­sed in the pro­duc­tion of liquorice.

Metelen (Sulá)

This plant, known under the name “Sulá” sin­ce 1950, is one of the most important pro­du­cers of both sugar free hard cara­mels in moul­ded qua­li­ty. As one of the big­gest sugar free hard boi­led can­dy pro­du­cers packa­ged in click­bo­xes, we pro­ve that a tas­ty sweet does not requi­re sugar.
